Cement Stocks: Price Hikes Face Monsoon and Festival Headwinds
Cement makers are attempting a last-ditch price hike ahead of the September quarter (Q2FY27) close, aiming to offset input cost inflation even as demand stays muted in a seasonally weak quarter. Nomura estimates average pan-India trade prices could rise ₹10/bag month-on-month to ₹330 in September, but dealers doubt the hike will stick, with monsoon-hit construction activity and festival-related labour shortages likely to dent volumes.
